These Janus Studio & Credits Terms (the “Studio Terms”) add to our Terms of Service and apply when you use Janus Studio, its AI creation tools (including Game Genie), the Janus Arcade, and the Janus API and MCP server. They are an agreement between you and IDFire Technologies Inc. (“IDFire”, “we” or “us”), which operates Janus Engine.

If the Studio Terms conflict with the Terms of Service, the Studio Terms control for these services. Words defined in the Terms of Service have the same meaning here.

The short version
  • You own your AI outputs to the extent the law allows, and you can use them commercially. Outputs may not be unique.
  • Every run shows its price in credits first. If a generation fails, the credits come back automatically.
  • Credits never expire, have no cash value, and are non-refundable once spent. Unused packs can be refunded within 14 days.
  • Some prompts are off-limits (for example, infringing others’ IP, depicting real people without consent, sexual content, hate). We may block them.
  • Publishing to the Arcade lets people play and remix your game. You can unpublish at any time.

This summary is for convenience. The full text below is what governs.

1.Who can use Janus Studio

Janus Studio, Arcade publishing and the API are for people aged 13 or older, or 16 or older in countries of the European Economic Area where local law sets that age for consenting to online services. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these Studio Terms and supervise your use, and any purchase must be made by them or with their permission.

If you use Janus Studio for a company or other organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Studio Terms for it, and “you” includes that organization.

2.Guest sessions, accounts and API keys

You can start creating without an account. Guest sessions receive a small number of free welcome credits, and their files and credits are tied to a cookie in your browser until you sign up, at which point we move them into your account. Publishing to the Arcade, buying credits and creating API keys require an account.

API keys are like passwords. Keep them secret, don’t put them in public code or client-side apps, and revoke a key immediately if you think it has been exposed. You are responsible for all usage and credit spending under your keys.

3.Credits

What credits are

Credits are a prepaid, limited license to use the metered features of Janus Studio, the API and the MCP server. Many tools run in your browser and are free; AI tools cost credits. Every AI tool shows its price in credits before you run it, and the API and MCP server report the price of each operation in their catalog and responses.

Getting credits

You can buy credit packs at the prices shown at checkout, and we may also give free or promotional credits (for example, welcome credits for guests and new accounts). Payments are processed by Stripe. Purchases must be made by an adult or with an adult’s permission.

How credits are spent

  • Credits are deducted when a generation succeeds. Free and promotional credits are used first, then purchased credits, oldest first.
  • Failed generations are refunded automatically. If a run fails, times out, is lost because of a service problem, or is stopped by a safety filter after it started, any credits taken for it are returned to your balance without you having to ask.
  • If we block a prompt before it runs, you are not charged.

Rules that protect you

  • Credits never expire. Your purchased and free credits stay in your account for as long as the account exists.
  • No cash value. Credits are not money, a deposit or a stored-value account. They cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred to another account, or used outside Janus Studio, the API and the MCP server.
  • Refunds. Spent credits are non-refundable, except for the automatic refunds of failed generations described above. Unused credit packs can be refunded within 14 days of purchase, as explained in our Refund Policy. Free and promotional credits are never refundable.
  • Price changes. We may change the credit price of a tool or the price of credit packs, but never retroactively: a change does not affect credits you already hold or runs that have already started.
  • Corrections. We may correct a balance that is wrong because of an error, and we may remove credits obtained through fraud, chargeback abuse, multiple accounts created to collect free credits, or other violations.

If we permanently shut down Janus Studio, we will refund the unused balance of credits you bought. If you delete your account, unused credits are lost, so please use them or request any eligible refund first.

4.Your inputs

“Inputs” are the prompts, text, images, audio, code and other material you provide to the tools. You keep whatever rights you have in your Inputs. You give us permission to use them to run the tools, store your library, keep provenance and safety records and operate the service, including by sending them to the AI model provider that performs the generation.

You must have the rights needed to use your Inputs this way. Don’t upload material that you don’t own or have permission to use, or other people’s personal information without a lawful basis.

5.AI-generated outputs

Ownership

As between you and IDFire, you own the outputs that the tools generate for you (“Outputs”), to the extent the law permits, and we assign to you any rights we may have in them. You may use Outputs for any lawful purpose, including in commercial games and products, subject to these Studio Terms and the rights of others.

Things to know about AI outputs

  • Outputs may not be unique. Other users may receive the same or similar results from similar prompts, and your ownership doesn’t extend to their Outputs.
  • Protection varies. In some countries, including the United States, material generated by AI without sufficient human authorship may not be protected by copyright. Your own creative changes and arrangements may be.
  • You are responsible for how you use Outputs, including checking that an Output doesn’t resemble a third party’s protected character, logo, artwork, music or likeness before you use it commercially.
  • Outputs can be wrong or unsuitable. Generated code, text and media can contain errors, security problems or content you didn’t intend. Review and test Outputs before you rely on them.

AI marking and provenance

We label AI-generated content so people can tell how it was made. Generated images carry IPTC Digital Source Type metadata (“trainedAlgorithmicMedia”, or “compositeWithTrainedAlgorithmicMedia” for edits), some model providers add an invisible watermark such as Google’s SynthID, and we keep a provenance record of each generation. You agree not to remove or alter these markings in order to mislead anyone about how content was made, and to disclose that content is AI-generated wherever the law requires it (for example, for realistic images, audio or video of people, places or events).

6.Prohibited prompts and content

You may not use the tools to create, or attempt to create, content that:

  • infringes intellectual property, such as reproducing copyrighted characters, artwork, music or logos you don’t have the rights to, or creating counterfeit game assets;
  • depicts a real, identifiable person without their consent, including realistic images, voices or video of them, or that impersonates someone or is designed to deceive (deepfakes);
  • sexualizes minors in any way, including fictional characters who are or appear to be under 18. We report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and cooperate with law enforcement;
  • is sexually explicit or pornographic;
  • promotes hate, harassment or violent extremism, or attacks people based on protected characteristics;
  • glorifies real-world violence or self-harm, or contains gratuitous gore beyond what is typical for the game’s genre and rating;
  • gives instructions for weapons, dangerous substances or other serious harm, or facilitates crimes;
  • is malware, a phishing page, a cryptocurrency miner or any code designed to damage devices, steal data or trick people;
  • creates fake identity documents, forged records or content meant to defeat identity verification, or misleads people about elections, health or emergencies;
  • contains other people’s private personal information, or is spam; or
  • otherwise breaks the law, our Community Rules or the usage policies of our AI model providers.

You also may not try to get around our safety systems, for example with prompts designed to trick a model into ignoring its rules.

How we enforce this

We screen prompts and outputs automatically and may block a prompt, refuse to generate, blur or withhold an output, or remove content, without warning. Repeated or serious violations can lead to loss of access to AI tools, the API or your account. If you believe we blocked something by mistake, contact legal@radgames.ai.

7.Your library

Outputs and uploads are saved to your library so you can reuse them in other tools. Library files are private unless you publish them. We keep them until you delete them or your account, subject to our Privacy Policy. We may set reasonable storage limits, and we recommend downloading anything important; the library is not a backup service.

8.Publishing to the Janus Arcade

The Arcade lets you publish games you make with Janus so that anyone can play them in a browser. When you publish a game:

  • You keep ownership of your game and its original content.
  • You grant IDFire a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, run, display, distribute and promote the game and its title, description and cover image, in the Arcade and in marketing for Janus, and to make technical copies, thumbnails and previews. This license lasts while the game is published and for a reasonable period afterward to remove it from caches, promotional materials and backups.
  • You grant other users a license to play the game, and to remix it in Janus Studio and publish their remix in the Arcade, with the Arcade’s link back to the original. Remixes may not be used outside Janus without your permission.
  • You confirm that you have the rights to everything in the game, that it follows the Community Rules and these Studio Terms, and that it doesn’t collect personal information, track players, show ads or take payments.

You can unpublish your game at any time. We may remove or limit any Arcade game that breaks these rules or the law, or in response to a valid takedown notice (see our Copyright & DMCA page). Where the law requires, we tell you why and how to appeal.

How the Arcade ranks games. Arcade lists can be sorted by newest, most played and most liked. We don’t personalize rankings based on a profile of you. Don’t manipulate plays or likes with bots, multiple accounts or paid schemes.

9.Janus API and MCP server

The API and MCP server give your software and AI agents access to Janus Studio tools. In addition to everything else in these Studio Terms, you agree to the following:

  • Keys and agents. Each request must be authenticated with your own API key. You are responsible for every action an application or AI agent takes with your key, including credit spending, so set sensible limits and keep a human in the loop for anything consequential.
  • Usage limits. We set rate limits and spending safeguards to keep the service reliable. Don’t try to get around them, for example by rotating keys or creating extra accounts.
  • Content rules still apply. The prohibited-content rules in Section 6 apply to every request, whether a person or an agent wrote the prompt.
  • Building on Janus. You may build your own apps and workflows on the API. You may not resell raw access to the API as a standalone service, present it as your own service without permission, or use the API or its Outputs to build or train a competing general-purpose generative model.
  • Security. Don’t probe, scan or test the security of our systems without written permission. If you find a vulnerability, please report it privately to legal@radgames.ai.
  • Changes. We may update the API, add or retire tools and models, and change prices. For breaking changes or retirements, we aim to give developers at least 30 days’ notice in the documentation or by email.

10.AI model providers

Janus Studio uses third-party AI models, currently provided by Google through the Gemini API, to generate many Outputs. Your use of those tools must also follow the provider’s usage rules, including Google’s Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy. We may change which models and providers power a tool at any time, and different models may produce different results for the same prompt.

11.Availability and beta features

We work hard to keep Janus Studio available, but we don’t guarantee that every tool or model will always be online or produce a particular result. Features labeled beta, preview or new may change or be removed, and they may be less reliable than others.

12.Suspension and termination

You can stop using Janus Studio and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access to Janus Studio, the Arcade or the API as described in the Terms of Service. If we close your account because you seriously broke these Studio Terms, unused credits are forfeited to the extent the law allows; otherwise, if we close your account or end a paid service for our own reasons, we refund your unused purchased credits.

13.Disclaimers for AI features

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the AI tools and all Outputs are provided “as is”. IDFire does not warrant that Outputs will be accurate, unique, error-free, fit for a particular purpose, protected by intellectual-property law, or free of third-party rights. You are responsible for evaluating Outputs before you use, publish or sell them.

The disclaimers, limitation of liability and dispute-resolution terms in the Terms of Service also apply to these Studio Terms, and nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law.
